Freedom to Love
Our Mission
We believe every person deserves connection, compassion, and the chance to be heard — no matter where they are.
Our Story
Connection beyond walls
Cuff & Key was founded on a simple belief — that walls should never be the end of human connection. We created this platform to bridge the distance between incarcerated individuals and the outside world, one letter at a time. Our pen-pal community has helped people find friendship, encouragement, and hope.

Connecting Safely Through Cuff & Key
Find a profile you connect with, then use the mailing address provided on their profile page to send your first letter. Cuff & Key does not offer a website messaging system, so all initial correspondence begins through physical mail. Each correctional facility has different communication rules and services. After the first letter, phone calls, electronic messages, video or in-person visits, and other forms of communication may be available depending on the facility’s policies and the preferences of both pen pals.Yes — corresponding with incarcerated individuals is generally safe when you take a few simple precautions. Cuff & Key is a pen-pal introduction service only. We do not conduct background checks on listed individuals or their correspondents
We strongly recommend using a P.O. Box or a mailing address that is different from your physical home address for all correspondence. This protects your privacy and keeps your personal location confidential.
Please use good judgment, take your time getting to know someone through letters, and never share sensitive personal or financial information. Cuff & Key is not responsible for the actions of any individual using this service.
